| On a temperate, spring day, it's nice to be able to sit down and relax outside on the patio. However, when the summer sun begins to beat down, being outdoors can often be a less than pleasant experience.
In order to find shade in the midst of all that heat, patio awnings are a great way to eliminate the sun's glare in an inexpensive and effective way. The newest form of patio awnings allow the buyer to simply roll the awning out over the patio when they so desire, and then put the awning away when they do not want to use it anymore by simply rolling it back into its casing. Usually, this form of patio awning is attached to the house and hardly noticeable when not in use. There are several companies who sell these patio awnings, and many can even be purchased online. Additionally, you are able to pick and choose your color or pattern to best suit the look of your home. This type of awning is called a retractable awning because it can be brought out and then retracted whenever the user desires.
If you do not want to use retractable patio awnings, a more permanent fixture is available. Usually, this type of awning is connected to the roof of the home and extended as far you wish, and then mounted in place with two pieces of wood or metal to hold the awning in place. The material can range from tough fabrics to wood or even roofing material. The choice is up to you. Although this option is usually permanent, it can provide a great deal of shade for much less than purchasing an entire enclosure or getting a sunroom built. Patio awnings can give us comfort and make the look of the patio much more elegant. |
