Everyone wants a pretty patio to show off to friends. Unfortunately, it's not as easy as it sounds. Let's focus on renovating
a patio rather than buying a brand new one.
A fireplace
always makes everything seem cozier, it makes
it all seem that much more relaxing. Before
buying anything, make
sure it'll fit in well with your yard and colour scheme, including flowers. Cast iron is best, and whether it's an outdoor
fire ring or pit, make sure you'll actually use it. There's no point in having a fireplace if it's simply for decoration-if
it is, you can get ones that are meant for that and that won't need as much work.
Your patio
will need comfortable chairs that will appeal
to guests and family. Wicker chairs look
pretty but require more
work to keep clean: little bits of dust and
dirt have a habit of making a home between
weaves, try wiping all your wicker
furniture down with a wet cloth every once
in a while.
Another
thing to consider for your patio is lighting.
String lights are popular because they're inexpensive and you can mix
and match depending on mood and style. Solar powered lights aren't the cheapest to start with, but they'll never need
recharging because they do so by themselves during the day and then glow during the night. You'll need to be a touch more
careful around gas lights because of children, but along with lanterns, they can cast an exotic flush on your patio.
Fountains
are another possibility for your patio. A
full sized water fountain will usually come
with a pump that moves the
water when turned on, or it can be solar
powered, which is usually less expensive.
Bird baths are always an option, and will
help bring birds to your yard.
