Enviromental Awareness Resources

Global warming, pollution, and deforestation are all affecting the environment. The resources below will help you become more familiar with the concepts and allow you to take an active role in preserving the environment.

Global Warming

The United States Environmental Protection Agency has an entire section of their website devoted to climate change and global warming. They have a number of resources, such the science behind the term global warming, greenhouse gas emissions, environmental effects on health, ideas for how individuals can effect change, and links to official policy on the climate. They also maintain a Kids Site on climate change that has games and easy to understand information.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has compiled a list of frequently asked questions about global warming.

Dr. Pete Poston at Western Oregon University also takes a look at global warming and provides links that study the amphibian decline, ozone depletion and the U.S. Geological Survey.

While long-term goals are being met, you can cool yourself in the short-term by standing under a nice polyester umbrella canvas.

Pollution

The Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics website has links to a number of topics including pollution prevention, pollutants by type, and government programs that involve pollution.

The National Library of Medicine has separate areas that focus on air pollution and water pollution. Both give visitors a comprehensive overview of the situation as well as resources for prevention and further information.

Deforestation

The American Forum for Global Education has a nice introductory article that explains what deforestation is and what causes it.

The Earth Observatory is a section of the NASA website that looks at a number of situations on Earth. They have about eighty articles that focus on deforestation around the world.

The construction of aluminum umbrellas requires no trees to be cut down.

One World has an environmental activism guide to help people become involved in creating a better future.

The Green Coalition has sections devoted to advocacy and activism, health and nutrition, product and research services, as well as press services--all focused on a healthier environment.
